Our Science Methodology

Rather than deliver generic solutions for every situation, Leadership Resources, LLC is dedicated to working with business professionals to understand the unique decisions facing each individual. We then work with you to design a custom approach which is focused and tailored to each specific culture and need.

Leadership Resources utilizes the leading science based psychological profiles as the basis for their evaluations and have assisted in their ongoing development and refinement over the years. Leadership Resources has benefited many organizations by properly evaluating the interplay among the different tools.

OUR PRIMARY RESOURCES

Formal Axiology

What it is:
Formal Axiology is the underlying science which forms the basis of our evaluations.

Why it is helpful:
No two people are alike. They do not look alike. They do not sound alike. Most certainly, they do not think alike. Axiology is the science which studies how people think. Specifically, Axiology studies how people determine the value of different things and how those values either represent or distort reality.

Unlike most psychological tests, Axiology is a deductive science which has specific, measurable manifestations, applications and predictions. It has been tested and validated over many years with millions of profiles.

Hartman-Kinsel

What it is:
The Hartman-Kinsel Profile is a psychological test based on Formal Axiology and is included in every package. It is a deductive profile which measures:

  • patterns and clarity of thinking
  • what dimensions a person is most and least attentive to
  • the different balances in an individual's thinking.

It is the starting point of every evaluation as knowing how a person thinks is of critical importance.

We all place different priorities on what we value and don't value. Consequently we all have preferences for actions we will take to be consistent with those values. Knowing what those values are, and therefore gaining insight into the most likely corresponding actions, is an indispensable tool.

The Hartman-Kinsel profile distinguishes individuals' values in terms of intrinsic, extrinsic and systemic dimensions. The intrinsic dimension involves singularity and uniqueness and is required for empathy and self-esteem. The extrinsic dimension involves the ability to deal with the abstraction of properties and relative comparisons and is required for practical, social and political thinking and for personal confidence and competitiveness. The systemic dimension involves formal constructs and absolutes and is required for planning, measurement, and one's own self-image and standards.

Why it is helpful:
Knowing a person's thinking orientation is invaluable for both hiring decisions as well as ongoing employee development.

In the hiring process it allows a more accurate prediction of how a candidate will handle given situations. For instance, a person who is sensitive to rejection would probably not excel at a commissioned sales position.

For individual employees, it provides greater self-understanding which allows them recognize their strengths as well when they are having difficulty with an issue and how to either make the appropriate decision or when to get help.

For the Manager it provides crucial insight into how different people approach various tasks thereby allowing her to:

  • Assign projects more effectively by determining strengths and weaknesses
  • Design training which pinpoints the sources of weaknesses and strengths
  • More accurately identify motivation and drive source
  • Identify Team compatibility issues and sources of stress

Devine Inventory - TM

What it is:
The Devine Inventory is an inductive psychologic profile which provides insight into an individual's current behavior. If the Hartman-Kinsel profile guides us on the broad pipes through which an individual thinks, The Divine Inventory shows us what is going through those pipes.

The Divine Inventory assesses 35 different behavioral attributes of an individual, including Goal Orientation, Self Responsibility, Competitiveness and Time Competitiveness. It then ranks them in a matrix showing whether the particular attribute is:

  • Low Marginal
  • Needs Development
  • Satisfactory
  • Well Developed
  • High Marginal

The Devine Inventory will also then recommend a suggested reading for development of weaker skills. An example is listed in Appendix B.

Why it is helpful:
Using the Devine Inventory gives you a more complete picture of potential hires or existing employees. It provides a clearer current picture of specific aspects which may be going on currently.

More importantly, it also pinpoints areas for development and allows for more directed training.

The Devine Inventory is a valuable tool for more in-depth initial hire analysis. It is also used in ongoing personalized development.

Clear Direction

What it is:
The Clear Direction Development Program is a personalized 60+ page report which highlights a person's strengths and weaknesses. Each report provides a more detailed description of a person's thinking orientations, biases, strengths and limitations.

The Clear Direction Development Program also consists of 13 personalized eLessions which are emailed to the individual over a six month period.

Why it is Helpful:
The Clear Direction Development Program enhances a person's self understanding thereby enabling them to exploit their strengths and enlist assistance in areas of weakness. Unlike most training programs which give the same information to every person, the Clear Direction program personalizes the content and training recommendations based on the unique strengths and limitations of the individual.

The Clear Direction program also has the practical advantage of being done over a period of time to reinforce concepts and can be done efficiently while sitting at your desk.
